HD woes.. possible solution??

I decided to hop on the MUFE HD bandwagon. Unfortunately, I'm debating on whether or not I want to hop off. I was ready to return it yesterday, but an MA suggested that I use Cover Fx Skin Prep Primer.

Here's my problem with MUFE HD Foundation:

It settles into every imperfection on my skin. It makes my chin and upper lip and the surrounding area flaky and dry, no matter how much I moisturize before (I exfoliate, put on the Lumene Vitamin C cocktail serum, AND La Mer cream, there should really be no excuse to dry, patchy skin..)

On top of that, I feel the color is still a bit too light. Although they have lots of color selection, I still can't seem to find one that suits me! I feel like its a bit ashy. I bought it in 125.

SIGH.

I tried different techniques. I used extra EXTRA moisturizer. I applied it with fingers. I applied it with a foundation brush. Nothing has worked.

I explained all of this to the MA at Sephora and thats when she suggested Cover Fx Skin Prep Primer.

The description taken from Sephora:

What it is:
A nourishing treatment and priming serum for the face.

What it is formulated to do:
Skinprep FX perfects the skin's texture for optimal foundati

on coverage. The formula helps to facilitate foundation, blending, coverage and wear.

What else you need to know:

Skinprep FX will reduce skin inflammation and is tolera

ted by the most sensitive skin. It is oil-free, fragrance free, and will not clog pores.

I decided to give this a try and took a sample of it home. I used it today and saw a slight improvement. Less flaky, less dry. But only slightly. I do feel that it might be the best solution though. I barely put any of it on, for fear that it might brea k me out. Tomorrow I will put more on, and hopefully will see an even better improvement.

I took a few snapshots (with my shitty ca mera) just to see how my skin looks in pictures and I have to say that it doesn't look tooooo bad. (As you can see, it doesn't quite cover up all of my acne scars, but I didn't use any concealer either)

Again, I'm wearing the HD Foundation in 125 and a few sweeps of Cargo's Suedeblush in Barbury Coast.

Well, that is it for now. I will update tomorrow!!

Some New Products; Updates

I've been on a quest to find a good topical gel to get rid of acne scars. The acne flare ups have calmed, skin is basically clear but you wouldn't think it because I have these god awful red scars on my cheeks (thanks to picking.. -__-). Foundation doesn't quite cover them up as well as I would like and I am wearing virtually no make up these days due to laziness, so I am putting energy into finding ways to make it so that I really don't need make up (and trust me..I need the make up. I feel hideous!). Blah.

My research tells me that Mederma Gel is probably my best bet to get rid of the scars. I think this ranges from $18 to about $30, depending on the amount. I haven't purchased this yet. I am still holding out to see if I can find something better, maybe cheaper.

Vita K for Acne Scars is cheaper, but the reviews were pretty mixed. I was set on buying this before I discovered all of the great reviews on Mederma.

For now I am holding off on buying any scar fade/removal creams because I discovered and purchased a new product that I am excited about trying!

Lumene Vitamin C+ Energy Coctail Intensive Care (Age Defying)
Sorry I can't find a bigger/better/clearer picture, but this will give you an idea of what it looks like. This product isn't really for scars and I wasn't looking to buy anything like this, but I discovered it while blog surfing and reviews on this product are great. I bought this for $14, orig. 19.99.

It's a serum, good for really dry and flaky skin, helps prevent signs of early aging, and apparently makes your skin extremely soft, supple and glowy. You put it on night and day before your moisturizer. I was weary about the fact that it looks oily and would go on greasy, causing me to break out. Although I haven't tested to see if it will break me out, I tried the tester at the store on the back of my hand and it goes on smoothly, dries quickly, and doesn't feel greasy at all. It smells pretty good too. I am hoping that the vitamin c and vitamin a ingredients will indirectly help with my acne scars. It's suppose to help even out your skin tone, too.

Lumene seems like a luxury brand to me, but is surprisingly a drugstore brand. Good for my bank account. After I try out the Energy Cocktail, I think I will give their night cream a try (as an alternative to La Mer. I go through that stuff too quickly because I'm using it day and night, and I can only steal so much from my mom...)

Go to makeupalley or google and check Lumene out for yourself. :)

UPDATES

A couple entries back I did a "haul" post of new products I haven't tried before. I am happy to say that I love 90% of the haul.

I have found my new "HG" cleanser/scrub (the cheapest I've ever spent on a facial cleanser too!) St. Ives Apricot Scrub Blemish and Blackhead Control
I don't know if it was just the natural timing, but previous to using this, I was having bad acne flare ups (as mentioned before). After I started using this, I noticed improvements in my skin. Its great! Most people say the scrubs are too harsh, but I love it. It makes me feel really clean. I use it day and night and it really has helped keep my acne under control. Way better than the Neutrogena Scrub that I was always buying before this (although the neutrogena scrub is still a great product, probably my #2)

After buying the DDF Acne Tackle Box, I only ended up using the Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Gel With Tea Tree Oil spot treatment. The other products weren't bad, but I didn't find it to help much with the acne. The mask was O.K. I think it made me break out though by bringing out all the impurities in my skin to the surface. And I hate that shit (i.e. Differin. I ABSOLUTELY HATED THAT STUFF) Anyway, the sample size version of the BP Gel + TTO is running dry so I went and purchased the full size bottle. I absolutely can not live without this stuff now. Along with the Apricot Scrub, this stuff is really keeping my skin clear. It helps me control oil, and doesn't dry out my skin like other BP products. There's not alcohol in it and I swear the tea tree oil helps a lot too.

I don't think I included this in my last "haul" post but I am loving the Eucerin Plus Intensive Smoothing Body Lotion. I had what Amy calls "Chicken Skin" on my legs... Pretty self explanatory.. My legs felt like chicken skin, goose bumpy, no matter how much I exfoliated or moisturized. I've been putting this lotion on after the shower religiously for about 2-3 weeks now, and I've noticed my legs are smoother than ever before. It has "alpha hydroxy" in it. Which is what I think is reI have to be careful not to put too much on because although it says its "quick drying" or "fast absorbing" or "whatever", it tends to feel a little sticky if I put too much on or don't rub in it well enough. Sometimes I'll use this every other day, putting on a regular lotion on "off" days. Anyway, its gotten rid of the chickeny skin and I am loving it yay.

My last update is the Neutrogena T GEL Shampoo for itchy scalp. Not for me, but for the boy and according to him, it is working well. Itchiness is down to a minimum to none at all, and significantly less flakes/dandruff (due to dry skin). The smell is gross to me, but if it works, it works. Yay.

Thats it.

Sorry there aren't any pictures. I am still trying to get a new camera. Bare with me?

secrets make friends...

Amy suggested that I blog about some of my favorite beauty products/secrets. Here it goes...WoOOOOoo...
Expensive but you get what you pay for (or what your Mom pays for... I can't afford this but I am lucky enough to have a Mom I can steal things from... muwahaha). Its true, this product is every bit of amazing as the critics say. I use this at night, especially now since it is winter and I am currently using a 5% benzoyl peroxide gel that is extremely drying. My flaky skin is cured when I pat this stuff onto my face. I use this before make up as well. It gives whatever foundation you are using a dewy look. Very awesome.

Nars Orgasm/Laguna Blush/Bronzer Duo is amazing. Its great for contouring and a nighttime look. My skin has been bad so I haven't been using this at all. But its great for daytime too. Its very buildable, looks amazing in pictures, not too glittery. Can be as natural or dramatic as you want it to be.

Maybelline Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner Eyeliner has been essential in my daily make up routine, but lately I wear little to no make up. But when I do manage to care about my appearance my go to eyeliner has been this stuff. I was never a fan of liquid eyeliner in the past. I used MAC Fluidline in blacktrack/buried treasure. But I was tired of always having to use the angled eyeliner brush to apply it. The product would dry up and clump on the brush if I didn't wash it after every other usage. That, my friends, is too much work. I am all about quick and efficient application of make up (I am super lazy). Its also cheaper to buy this stuff. And I always found pencil liners to be smudgy for me. This doesn't smudge. Staying and lasting power are great. And for the price, it really can't be beat.

Stila Illuminating Concealer is great for covering undereye circles. I also put a little bit on my upperlip area because it is slightly discolored (looks like I have a mustache if I don't ..haha) It does its job well. I like the color as well, although they only have 3 to choose from :/ But I loves it and will be repurchasing soon because its very very gone.

Clinique Moisture Sheer Tint SPF 15 Creme-Gel my go-to tinted moisturizer. I was really into tinted moisturizers this summer. I tried the stila brand tinted moisturizer, and although it was nice, it was a little too drying. Not enough moisture. Might be due to the fact that it was oil-free, but w/e. Anyway, this stuff is great. The coverage is not that great for me considering I have pretty bad acne right now, but I use it anyway because it evens out my skin tone. I also like to think that the tinted moisturizer is better and healthier for my acne prone skin right now as opposed to regular foundation. It also gives off a nice glowy finish. I really like the consistancy too. I can tell that the staying power is good because it doesn't drip down my hand/finger. Anyway, this is about to be repurchased as well.

Well, thats it for now. Those are my most reliable products. I am still on the ongoing and tedious hunt for my most reliable foundation, pressed powder, and body lotion. SIGH. kbye.

woe is me.

It is around 3:40 in the morning and although I am tired, I cannot fall asleep because the boy ripped a few big ones in our room while I was brushing my teeth. -___- Thanks.

I decided to kill time by blogging while I let ventilation take its course.

Since Tambooty made a fabulous list of all the recent purchases she made, I decided to share a few of mine.

I had some free time before grabbing lunch today, so I decided to wander the aisles of Walgreens. I love Walgreens because no matter which Walgreens you walk into, it always feels like home because they all are exactly the same. Wherever you are.

I am almost out of my daily facial scrub. The Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub. I love this stuff. But I decided to venture out to a different brand.

This usually runs for about 6-7 dollars, depending on where you buy. Walgreens will get you at 7-8. Target will get you at arouned 5-6 dollars. Money has been pretty much non existent so I decided to look for something cheap, yet effective. (Money is so non existent that 8 bucks is too much for a scrub. -__-)

This stuff was 3 bucks and it had that nice Allure Magazine "stamp" of approval... I was sold. I decided to give this a try. I'll let you know how it works out.

]

I bought this for the boy because he was complaining of a burning itchy scalp. :/ Hopefully this will help. It has coal tar in it. Cool huh?
I bought some snap on hair rollers from sallybeauty.com. I haven't received them in the mail yet so I have yet to try them. I've seen ricebunny or pursebuzz use these to help set their curls. It seemed effective and a good way to section out your curls. They were really cheap at 2 something a package.

After searching for tea tree oil products (after amy reccommended using it for cystic acne), I stumbled acrossed a benzoyl peroxide gel containing tea tree oil from DDF (a brand I had never heard of until this discovery). I went on make up alley to research and I found that they had pretty good reviews on their products. I was tempted to just purchase their scrub and b.p./tea tree oil scrub but I didn't want to spend money on a full tube. So I found that sephora carried this sampler kit. Perfect. I got this for 35 dollars. (I know, I know... I bought 3 dollar face wash because I am broke, yet I spend 35 for this "tackle box". Its because I bought this tackle box that I had to skimp out on face wash. Blahblah ok bye) I guess its a fair deal to really try out their products before shelling out 30 dollars for a full sized tube or something you dont' know will work for you skin. Anyway, I've been using this for about 3 days and it doesn't seem to be effective at all. My skin is actually worse everyday, but I don't think it is because of these products. My body has been adjusting to all these new hormones (birth control pill) I am taking. Sucks ass. I feel like this has been an ongoing problem for about 4 months now and its so ridiculous. But I am going to tough this out.

My thoughts are not fluid and as articulate as I want them to be. I really am just rambling for the sake of blogging. I am exhausted. Maybe I will edit this tomorrow. I have a lot more bitching to do about my skin.

That's it for now.

Wishlist!

I'm not greedy, I just don't have anything else to blog about.

A gift for me AND my fellow DS friends. This is a good hour of entertainment and of course friendly competition.

Nikon D80...

A girl can dream... And I really need a hobby.
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T700
Something a little more realistic. But I have been in dire need of a new camera for the last 2 years.

I would prefer Black. :)

That is it for now. But I will continue this later. I drank too much coffee and I think I need to poop. Perhaps I will think of more things to add to this list while I am on the can...

BRB.

psycho has never been so titilating

I think Heath Ledger's Joker is by far the best. No question. Hands down. You lose Jack Nicholson.

If you haven't seen it yet there might be spoilers ahead...but not enough to really ruin the movie... but you've been warned!

There are too many favorite scenes and awesome one liners to mention. But there is one thing I want to point out and urge you to pay more attention to if/when you see it for the second time. The music/score to this movie is amazing! James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer (two composers I just learned. Thanks Google) are geniuses! The part that I wish I could record and replay over and over again is the background music to the scene where Harvey Two-Face has Jim Gordon's son by the neck with a gun pointed to his head, and then he flips a coin and points it to his own head... I can't explain it. Obviously you have to hear listen to it. The music really made that scene. If I could listen to something for the rest of my life, it would be that part of the soundtrack. Gahh. Everything about this movie was soo good!

I feel really silly doing this whole blog thing.

i'm a munshter!

The wrath of my mother is one thing I fear most in this world. Sometimes, she's a little embarassing. But really, she's cute as hell.

"oh my gah! i look like a munshter!"- Mother after viewing this picture. LOL.

My mom, sister, and I decided to take a taxi back to my aunt's house after some shopping in downtown SF. We knew where we were going, but didn't quite know how to get there. We just asked him to take us to the street she lived on. But it wasn't in downtown and he obviously wasn't familiar. He called someone who I assumed to be a cabdriver buddy and cabdriver buddy helped us out a little bit. We finally got to a residential area that was obviously not where we wanted to be. My mom freaks out a little bit, leans over to me and whispers, "This is not right!"
I'm listing some landmarks and some street names to the driver, "Its near SanFran State University, umm.. Maybe you should have taken Alemany...I know its around there... One of the cross streets is Capitol.."

And then my sister chimes in,"Yeah, theres a church there!" (uh ok?)

And then my mom interjects, "A LOT OF BLACK PEOPLE LIVE THERE!!!"

*silence*
"Well there IS, right??"
